Succession took house the trophy for Greatest Drama Collection on the 2023 Emmy Awards, the present's sixth victory on Monday, January 15.

"We need to thank HBO, this wasn't an easy show to commission initially," present creator Jesse Armstrong stated during the ceremony, which was held on the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. "We need to say a few hellos. Howdy to Jeremy Robust, who's making a film, and whats up to [show writer] Lucy Prebble, who has made a child. We send our love to each of them."

Armstrong, 53, also gave a shout-out to Brian Cox, "who the present is revolved around," regardless that his character died early on within the last season. He added, "This can be a show about family however it's also about when partisan information protection gets intertwined with divisive right-wing politics. And after four seasons of satire, as I understand it, that's a problem we've got now fastened. So, we will now depart the stage."

Succession beat out its seven fellow nominees for the top prize: Andor, Better Call Saul, The Crown, Home of the Dragon, The Final of Us, The White Lotus and Yellowjackets. 

General, Succession led the Emmys with 27 nominations while The Last of Us and The White Lotus earned 24 and 23 nominations, respectively. Actors Matthew Macfadyen, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook also earned individual Emmy Awards on Monday for his or her respective Succession roles.

Last yr, Succession gained the award for Greatest Drama Collection at the 2022 Emmy Awards after previously receiving the award in 2020.

"It's an enormous week for successions," Armstrong shared in his 2022 acceptance speech, referring to King Charles III's accession to the British throne. "Evidently, there was slightly bit extra voting concerned in our profitable than King Charles."

He continued: "I'm not saying he's extra official in our position than where he's. We'll depart that to other individuals. But we're incredibly grateful to have this. It's a fantastic honor."

Previously, Netflix's The Crown, which premiered in November 2016, took house the trophy for Greatest Drama Collection in 2021. The show has gained a total of 21 Emmys and has acquired 69 nominations.

"We're gonna have a celebration now," The Crown's creator Peter Morgan shared during his acceptance speech at the time. "I'm misplaced for words. I'm very, very grateful. Thanks."

AMC's Better Call Saul, which premiered in February 2015, has been nominated for Greatest Drama Collection a total of seven occasions. The critically acclaimed collection has acquired a complete of 53 nominations and was hoping for his or her first Emmy award this yr.

Showtime's Yellowjackets was also nominated in this class in 2022 and has acquired a complete of 10 nominations.

HBO Max's The White Lotus beforehand gained 14 Emmys and acquired 43 nominations. Two other HBO Max collection, The Final of Us and Home of the Dragon are additionally up in this category. The Last of Us has acquired 24 nominations with eight Emmy wins up to now whereas House of the Dragon acquired eight Emmy nominations with one win.
