Firefighters on the ground attempted to rescue the boy but he died on the spot.
The school authorities confirmed the child's tragic death in a public statement – and said the school premises would remain closed for the foreseeable future.
They said: "St Lucy's School is very sad to confirm the tragic death of one of our students this afternoon.
"We are cooperating with the investigating police and are not able to make any further statement today.
"The school will be closed to students until further notice.
"We ask for privacy and space for our staff and families to grieve at this difficult time as we remember our beautiful student."
The Sydney cops have now set up a crime scene around the school for the disabled and are in motion to recover the child's body.
A NSW Police spokesperson said an independent report will be prepared for the coroner.
St. Lucy is a private Catholic Dominican School focusing on kids with distinguished disabilities.
It started as a primary school before expanding its operations to include secondary education for the students in 2019.
Currently, the institution caters to around 230 students from kindergarten to year 12.
