Viola Davis Admits She Was a Little Judgmental of Chadwick Boseman on Ma Raineys Set Before Finding Out He Was Dying
Viola Davis is reflecting on working with Chadwick Boseman for the actor's last film, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. In an interview with The Times, the actress, 59, shared that no one on set knew Boseman, who died at 43 on Aug. 28, 2020, after a four-year colon cancer battle, was sick. Davis, who played blues singer Ma Rainey in the drama, recalled seeing Boseman getting prepped on set to play Levee Green, the charming trumpeter in Ma's band.
