A Brazilian fitness influencer and athlete was identified as the woman who drowned in Texas during the Ironman Triathlon over the weekend.
Mara Flávia Araújo, 38, died while participating in the swimming portion of the event in the Woodlands near Houston on April 18, according to several news outlets, including FOX 26 in Houston.The Montgomery County Medical Examiner's Officewebsite also reportedthe death of Mara Araújo on April 18.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officeconfirmed the drowning in a Facebook poston Saturday and said that detectives were investigating the drowning "per normal protocols."
Ironman officials also confirmed the drowning on its Facebook account for Texas.

"We send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the athlete and will offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time. Our gratitude goes out to the first responders for their assistance,"the Facebook post said.
Araújo posted fitness contenton her Instagramand has more than 60,000 followers.
