So by now you know what you have on your fantasy football roster. You also know who has been healthy the majority of the year and which players have missed time. It feels like the injury report is thinning out a bit as we get into the middle of the campaign. But as always, we're tracking all the latest news and updates for you, to help with those fantasy football lineups.
Lamar Jackson, BAL (thumb) — Headed for injured reserve
Tyler Huntley, BAL (toe) — Could miss extended time
Ravens QBs : Jackson left in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Bills. He needs surgery on his thumb and is headed for IR . He'll miss at least four games, if not the rest of the season . After Jackson exited, Huntley entered the game and also had to leave due to injury (turf toe), leaving Baltimore down to third-string rookie Joe Fagnano. As if things couldn't get worse, Fagnano got banged up Sunday as well.
Huntley isn't going to be ready for Week 9 and head coach Jesse Minter already announced Fagnano will start against Jacksonville on TNF. With that news, it's obviously a downgrade to the passing game from what we saw against Buffalo. The UConn product went 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an INT in his first NFL action in Week 8. Zay Flowers is more of a WR3/flex option while Derrick Henry should get a healthy amount of work, though in a tough matchup. Outside of those two, the rest of the Ravens offense should be avoided in fantasy until we see more (or the Ravens make a deal for a QB).
Jeremiyah Love, ARI (ankle) — Will be placed on IR, miss 4-5 weeks
Breece Hall, NYJ (quad) — Expected to be back in Week 9
Travis Etienne Jr., NO (hamstring) — Could be activated off IR
Tuten : The Jags listed Tuten as a DNP at practice in back-to-back days Monday and Tuesday. Jacksonville has a quick turnaround on TNF against the Ravens, so missing two practices on a short week isn't a great sign for Tuten, who is coming off his best game of the season. He took 18 touches for 159 yards and two scores in Week 8. Chris Rodriguez Jr. is also dealing with a hand injury but was limited on Monday. Tuten will need to get at least a limited practice in Wednesday but could hold a questionable tag going into Thursday.
If Tuten is out, Rodriguez gets elevated into the RB2/3 conversation given the Jags are a 10-point favorite. In the rout of the Colts last week, Rodriguez had 58 yards on seven touches and a score. Ameer Abdullah also saw six carries against Indy and could see some work if Tuten is sidelined.
Hall : We thought the Jets were going to get back Hall in Week 8 against the Raiders. That wasn't the case and we got another solid game from Braelon Allen. At this point, even if Hall comes back, expect Allen to be involved given how well he's performed. Allen is the RB5 overall in half-PPR scoring from Weeks 5-8 with Hall sidelined. We'll need to get a look at how the split is in Week 9 with Hall back. Plus, it's a tough draw against Kansas City's run defense. But better matchups loom, so don't be surprised if both Hall and Allen are viable RB2/3 options.
Cardinals RBs : Love suffered a new high-ankle sprain in the comeback win over Dallas in OT on Sunday. Knight exited after a big hit and should land in concussion protocol. It'll be tough for Knight to clear in time for Week 9 against the Seahawks, but we'll see. Love has had so many issues with the ankle in his rookie season, and is expected to miss 4-5 weeks while on injured reserve, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport . With Love already out, if Knight sits, Tyler Allgeier will be playable, but don't expect 33.6 fantasy points — or anywhere close to that — against Seattle's top defense.
But with Love on IR and Knight starting the season with a lesser role, expect Allgeier to be the lead back moving forward. There could be weeks when Knight is healthy in which the staff rides the hot hand. But Allgeier was brought in to be a high-value backup to Love. Allgeier will have RB2/3 value week-to-week depending on the matchup. Also keep an eye our for James Conner, who is on IR but could be a useful stash.
McCaffrey : CMC comes off the bye navigating a mild hamstring strain. It doesn't feel like this will cause him to miss Week 9 against the Raiders. But we saw before San Francisco's bye that Kyle Shanahan feels comfortable giving the ball to rookie Kaelon Black. We could see more of Black on Sunday to help keep McCaffrey fresh.
Emeka Egbuka, TB (foot) — Could play in Week 9
Jordyn Tyson, NO (hamstring) — Could come off IR
Watson : The Packers' lead receiver had a miraculous exit and return to TNF's win over the Panthers in Week 8. Watson finished with an 8-113-0 line on 10 targets, catching a few passes after coming back from the hospital. But Watson revealed he's dealing with a broken rib, which is less than ideal. He'll have ample time to rest before Week 9's matchup with the Patriots. Watson could play through the injury, but if he's active, he would be at risk of exiting the game early. If Watson ends up having to sit, Tucker Kraft and Savion Williams would likely see more targets. Matthew Golden would be elevated into WR1 territory as well.
Wilson : The Cardinals' receiver told reporters after Sunday's win over the Cowboys that he's dealing with broken ribs. It appears Wilson is going to play through the injury. He's a risky option in the flex in PPR formats going up against the Seahawks' stout defense in Week 9.
Egbuka : The Bucs wideout has missed the past two games, and Tampa's passing game sure could use him. The Bucs didn't complete a pass in Week 8's shutout win over the Falcons, instead opting to run the ball 56 times for 324 yards. That likely won't be the case in Chicago in Week 9. If Egbuka can get back, it's a decent matchup, though Tampa Bay ranks dead last in passing offense this season. Egbuka would be a risky flex at best.
Ferguson : The Cowboys lost Ferguson to a low-ankle sprain early in the game against Arizona. He didn't return and his status for Week 9 against the Colts could be up in the air. If Ferguson is out, this is still a passing game dominated by CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Ryan Flournoy has stepped up as a solid WR3 as well. Brevyn Ford-Spann played 88% of the snaps in Week 8 and had four catches on five targets for 31 yards. In deeper formats, Ford-Spann isn't a bad streamer. He could see garbage-time looks if the Cowboys run away against a struggling Indy team.
