"I am sad to share that Apple won't be shifting ahead with season three of Schmigadoon!" creator Cinco Paul announced via X on Thursday, January 18. "The season is written (including 25 new songs), but we sadly gained't be making it. Such is life."
Paul, 59, thanked "everybody concerned" within the Apple TV+ collection. "It's a miracle we even obtained two seasons, truthfully, and I'm so grateful we did," he continued. "And to all of the fans of the present on the market — thank you with all of my heart. Your love and help has meant so much, and the truth that you related with our present, that it brought some pleasure, means the world to me."
While the show gained't transfer ahead as planned, Paul revealed that he hasn't given up hope that it'll discover a new house. "This was robust information to get, however the optimist in me is satisfied it's not the top of Schmigadoon," he wrote. "And perhaps it's even a cheerful starting."

Schmigadoon! premiered in 2021 and adopted Josh Skinner (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa Gimble (Cecily Robust) as they went on a backpacking journey to a magical town the place the residents act like they're in a musical. Despite its brief run, Schmigadoon! earned a 2022 Grammy nomination for the season 1 soundtrack. The collection was nominated for 4 Emmy Awards in 2022 and gained the Excellent Unique Music and Lyrics class. On the 2023 Emmys, which aired in January on account of strike delays, the collection was nominated for three categories: Excellent Manufacturing Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), Excellent Cinematography for a Collection (Half-Hour) and Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming.
