Arsenal have registered a robust interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, presently on mortgage at RB Leipzig.

A product of Barcelona's La Masia academy, Simons, 20, accomplished a transfer to PSG again in 2021 before returning to his native Netherlands looking for common game-time with PSV Eindhoven.

An outstanding individual marketing campaign in the 2022/23 Eredivisie followed, during which Simons notched up 19 objectives and eight assists, and the Dutchman's eye-catching performances satisfied PSG to trigger a £5million buyback clause in his PSV contract.

Ligue 1 champions PSG instantly loaned Simons to RB Leipzig and Simons has picked up the place he left off this season, netting four objectives and claiming seven assists in his opening 17 appearances in the Bundesliga.

In line with German publication Sport Bild, Leipzig are eager for Simons' loan deal to be prolonged to the 2025 however PSG are but to decide over the Netherlands international's fast future.

The report claims Arsenal one of the golf equipment monitoring the state of affairs, together with Inter Milan and Simons' former aspect Barcelona, although no concrete strategy has been made by any of the teenager's potential suitors.

Arsenal are scouring the market for attacking reinforcements but are understood to be prioritising a move for a top-class centre-forward, with Brentford's Ivan Toney, Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Newcastle's Alexander& Isak all closely linked.

Chatting with the media last week, Mikel Arteta conceded that it is probably not attainable for the Gunners so as to add to their squad before the January switch deadline.

Requested whether or not Arsenal might finish the window without any making any signings, the Spaniard advised reporters: 'That's a risk.
