Channel 4 viewers have been left conflicted and 'irrationally indignant' over its daring new social experiment programme The Jury: Murder Trial.

The show sees two separate juries preside over a trial – a husband accused of murdering his spouse in cold blood – to see if they still reach the same verdict.

That includes actors, The Jury: Homicide Trial is a dramatisation of a real-life case, which has not been revealed by Channel four, spun from the original transcripts from the courtroom case.

Nevertheless, as viewers tuned in for the first instalment tonight (Monday February, 26) – an extra three episodes will air on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night – they have been left feeling cold.

On Monday, they got the essential details of the case, studying that the husband admitted to killing his wife by putting her with a hammer, but is arguing a 'lack of control' defence.
