Channel 4 viewers have been left conflicted over its daring new social experiment programme The Jury: Murder Trial.

The present sees two separate juries preside over a trial – a husband accused of murdering his wife in chilly blood – to see if they nonetheless reach the identical verdict.

Featuring actors, The Jury: Homicide Trial is a dramatisation of a real-life case, which has not been revealed by Channel four, spun from the unique transcripts from the courtroom case.

Nevertheless, as viewers tuned in for the first instalment tonight (Monday February, 26) – an extra three episodes will air on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening – they have been left feeling cold.

On Monday, they were given the essential information of the case, studying that the husband admitted to killing his spouse by putting her with a hammer, but is arguing a 'loss of control' defence.

This argument infuriated Meghan on X, who fumed: 'Already feeling my blood boil. Why does the lady whose head is smashed in with a hammer need to be at fault for it. "What did she say to impress him?" Like what the hell does that matter? And ppl with this mentality making such necessary selections.'

Echoing with Meghan's sentiment, Andy Gilder added: 'Already irrationally indignant at& #TheJury. Someday into a six day homicide trial and half of them have already rushed into judgement.'

'The jurors aren't allowed to have their notes outdoors of the courtroom like that. That is completely false.& #thejury,' account Redundant Baker claimed.

'Filmed over ten days, in a former courthouse in Essex, the collection will take a forensic take a look at the inside workings of justice. The 2 juries might be requested to guage on the actual case of a man who admits he killed his spouse, however whose defence maintains that he lost control, and is subsequently not responsible of homicide.'

Describing the present as an ' revolutionary true crime experiment' aiming to 'give the public an insight into the British jury system', Andy Vasey and Dan Warner, artistic directors at 4creative, shed additional perception into the way it might expose flaws in the UK's legal system.

They stated: 'Our campaign spotlights how, for instance, & a juror being hungover or tired could be as more likely to sway a verdict because the details of the case. With one trial and two juries, it's fascinating to see whether or not the identical verdict will probably be reached by each.

The Jury continues tomorrow (Tuesday February 27) on Channel four.
