Barcelona have dominated out moves for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi as potential replacements for Xavi, in line with studies in Spain.

The Spanish champions have been drawing up an inventory of potential successors for Xavi, who announced in January that he will step down at the end of the season.

Xavi has remained adamant that he'll stick together with his determination, nevertheless, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made it clear that he needs the 44-year-old to remain in cost beyond the present season.

'I've made it clear to him that I would really like him to stay, but I perceive the strain he feels,' Laporta advised Mundo Deportivo last week.

'I requested if there was a chance he may change his thoughts, but I might see the strain on his face. I advised him to loosen up and never really feel pressured. He has stated he will depart on the finish of the season as planned, however we'll see. Let's not stress about it now because issues are going nicely.'

Based on the newspaper, Barcelona have lowered their shortlist of candidates to switch Xavi to include Luis Enrique, Hansi Flick and Rafa Marquez.

It's claimed that Barcelona's hierarchy are towards shifting for Arteta as a result of he nonetheless has a contract with Arsenal till 2025 and his lack of experience counts towards him.

Barcelona are also steering away from a transfer for De Zerbi as a consequence of his inexperience at main clubs and the €15 million (£12.8m) release clause in his cope with Brighton.

Barca are also stated to have determined towards appointing Thomas Tuchel, who's leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and Julian Nagelsmann, who is about to steer Germany's Euro 2024 marketing campaign and has not ruled out staying past this summer time's event.
