KITA ALEXANDER IS an old style hopeless romantic — or maybe hopeful is a extra apt descriptor. "It's sort of an old-school thought of discovering somebody if you're young and staying in love for a very long time. But . . . that's my aim," she muses.

Brisbane-born, Port Macquarie-raised and now a Byron Bay local (and a convert to the requisite way of life, evidenced when she brews a uncooked cacao drink mid-interview), Alexander welcomes any opportunity to convey the conversation again to love: for her youngsters, Vali and Rumi; for her husband, former professional surfer Owen Wright; and for her craft as a singer-songwriter.&

"I would like the songwriting and the poetry, and the phrases and the melodies [to be my legacy]," she says. Her new album, Young In Love, is a assured step in that path: the tender single "Date Night time", that includes Australian country singer Morgan Evans, boasts more than 4.7 million streams.

Alexander might have been a mannequin, having briefly signed to an company in her adolescence — and it's a Sliding Doors-type second she plays out here, garbed in Coach.

"I've [even more] respect for fashions now," she laughs, adding that she hopes Wright will pay attention to the white quilted Tabby shoulder bag she toyed with on set ("My husband loves to present," she hints).

Regardless of releasing music for greater than a decade, Young In Love is Alexander's first album, and the timing feels good: "It seems like a movement; our careers, our lives, what we've been by way of . . . I've been capable of step back into music at this good time when my youngsters are a bit older, my husband's retired," she shares. The album traces how she's "found [herself] in love and in relationships". She hopes listeners relate to its message of resilience — sticking love out by way of the inevitable "dips" in the street, of which she's had no scarcity, but by way of which she stays ever hopeful.

It's sort of an OLD-SCHOOL thought of FINDING someone if you're younger and STAYING in LOVE for a long time. However that's my GOAL
