AFTER keeping fans in suspense, ABC has finally announced long-running comedy The Conners is coming to an end – next year.
The news, while upsetting fans, also gives them an opportunity to say goodbye to the show.
The Conners has been renewed by ABC[/caption]That's a chance fans of NCIS: Hawai'i won't get, after CBS canceled the crime drama as soon as its current season wraps up.
Fans of The Conners celebrated Thursday, as a renewal deal for one more season was being hammered out, per Deadline.
The Roseanne reboot, which recently reached the 100 episode milestone, is expected to get a slimmed down order of around six episodes giving the cast and crew a proper farewell.
Cast members including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert and Lecy Goranson, are all expected to return.
Fans of both The Conners and NCIS: Hawai'i welcomed the extra episodes, along with slamming CBS for not giving their other favorite show the same appreciation.
Hey @CBS this is how you say goodbye," one person clapped, adding the hashtags #SaveNCISHawai and #BringBackNCISHawaii.
"See @CBS? This is how you bid farewell to a show with some respect!," another person tweeted, also including the #SaveNCISHawaii hashtag.
"Wait. Pause…so networks can give shows proper sendoffs even if they decide to end them?" a third asked sarcastically, before turning his attention. "@CBS I have news for you…"
While one person said it, "sounds good to me — going out next season on their own terms — and nice to wrap up loose story ends."

CONTINUING CONNERS
The Conners originally sprang from a previous Roseanne reboot, which was scrapped after just one season after series star Roseanne Barr was fired for making a series of racist and Islamophobic rants on what was then known as Twitter.
Network executives decided to retool the show, keeping the rest of the cast, including star John Goodman, and changing it to focus on the Conner family as a whole.
Season six just premiered in February, yet series star Ames McNamara, who plays Mark Conner-Healy on the show, recently shared a series of photos from the last days of shooting.
"Last week of season 6," he posted in the caption. "Thank you everyone for such a great season!!!!"
The deadline for a renewal got so close, a contingency plan was put place if the season finale had to suddenly become a series finale.
"We've got a final episode that may be one or the other," executive producer Bruce Helford told Deadline, adding that he "loves" the "emotional" and "unexpected" ending.
C-YA NCIS
NCIS: Hawai'i, which premiered in 2021 and is in the middle of its third season, was axed by CBS late last week.
The series stars Vanessa Lachey and LL Cool J, who also appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles.
In the three seasons, the show aired only 54 episodes which made it the shortest NCIS series.
The crime show had 10 million viewers across all platforms in only 35 days.
While that is an impressive number on most networks, it's mediocre at best on CBS.

Its ratings plus the upcoming new series NCIS: Origins likely created the perfect storm that led to the show's cancelation.
The third and now-final season finale is currently set to air on May 6.
The original NCIS and NCIS: Sydney have also gotten the green light for next season.
