Half of Scotland to sizzle in glorious 23C as country faces dramatic weather divide | 9842KEL | 2024-05-10 06:08:01
SCOTS are facing a dramatic weather divide with half of the country basking in sizzling temperatures today.
The west coast is set to be rewarded with some glorious sunshine throughout the day.
The west of Scotland is set to enjoy a very warm day[/caption]The sunny joy will also hit northwest today as haar burns off throughout the morning.
A warm breeze from the northwest will take away the chill later this morning.
Temperatures will gradually increase into the afternoon as the sunny weather continues.
Western parts of the central belt and Dumfries and Galloway are set to enjoy 18C heat.
But the best of the west will be in the Highlands, where the mercury is set to hit 23C by 4pm.
But it is a different story for Scots in the east, who will still be feeling the chill throughout the day.
Patches of haar will linger around East Lothian and eastern parts of the Scottish Borders.
Temperatures around Edinburgh will linger around 13C well into the afternoon.
Things will only be slightly warmer in the north as the mercury in Aberdeen is set to hit 14C.
BBC Scotland weather presenter Judith Ralston said: "Drier air will be feeding in from the north and that leaves us with a fine day with plenty of sunshine.

"A few patches (of hear) may well linger around East Lothian and the eastern Borders but that's about it.
"Temperature-wise there is quite a contrast.
"On the east coast itself with some breeze we're looking at around 12C to 14C.
"Come further west it is warmer with potential highs of 22C or 23C across the northwest Highlands."
The good weather is set to continue into the night.
"Into this evening, plenty of late sunshine with a lovely end to the day. Clear spells overnight, with some haar returning for parts of the east with some showers pushing into the very far south by morning."
Temperatures will be much cooler in the east[/caption]
