DRIVERS have collectively complained about malfunctioning traffic lights in a busy downtown area.
Others have reported that a red light lasts several minutes while a green light only lasts seconds.

A traffic light at Black Horse Pike and McKee Avenue in Mays Landing, earned internet fame after a rant was published.
"It's where fast-moving traffic goes to die," wrote Chris Coleman for Atlantic City radio station WPUR in December 2021.
"Morning, noon, and night, winter or summer. You sit there. Sometimes for several light cycles. Are you headed westbound during the evening rush hour? You sit there for an eternity. A Saturday afternoon in the summer? You sit there for an eternity."
Not only do the red light cycles last for several minutes, but the green light cycles last only seconds.
"If you have ever either left the movie theater or have been on McKee Avenue, you know the green light for you is only eight seconds long," he continued.
In another post by Coleman only six days earlier, another Mays Landing red light was the victim of an online rant.
"All I want for Christmas is for someone to fix the red light at the Black Horse Pike and Leipzig Avenue in Mays Landing," he wrote.
At the busy intersection, Coleman depicted a nightmarish scenario for drivers.
Most people would never assume that a red light wouldn't ever cycle to green.

But at that particular intersection, that's exactly what happened to him.
"If you are on Leipzig Avenue waiting at the light and you are in the right lane waiting to turn or go straight into the shopping center towards Acme or Walmart, the traffic signal will never turn green," read his article.
"Never. If a dozen cars are waiting there, the light will never change."
After a few rounds with the troublesome traffic light, Coleman suddenly realized what it took for the traffic light to change.
"Either someone has to be in the other lane for the light to turn green, or (and I don't recommend doing what I do) I get out and push the crosswalk button to make the light change."
To add insult to injury, the light also presents trouble to drivers late at night, even when there isn't cross traffic.
He wrote that drivers he's spoken with said the traffic light never turns green, even when they're the only car waiting to turn.
Many drivers resort to making an illegal turn against a red light as a result.

He added that he reported the fault light to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, but the light wasn't fixed at the time of publication.
In 2022, Coleman used the internet to post about another distressing driving scenario in the Garden State.
"Have you tried making a U-turn on the Black Horse Pike lately?" he wrote for WPG Talk Radio.
"For the past 100 years, you could make a U-turn here — but as of a few weeks ago when they "modernized" the intersection, now you can't."
According to Coleman, a U-Turn was allowed at that traffic intersection as long as it was safe to do so, but changes made by the city made turning into the shopping center nearly impossible.
At the lights following, many drivers – including Coleman – couldn't turn around to get into the shopping center going the opposite direction.
Coleman noted that four intersections after the Black Horse Pike didn't allow left turns, except for one: the dreaded McKee Avenue intersection.
"Why do we make it so difficult to turn around?!" he raged.
"So, where can you make a U-Turn? McKee Avenue! Arguably at one of the worst traffic lights in all of South Jersey."
