Illia Zabarnyi has hailed his countrymen at war as Ukraine prepare to kick off their Euro 2024 as conflict with Russia wages on in his homeland. After finishing third behind England and Italy and their qualifying group, Ukraine progressed to a play-off round where they defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland to cement their place in the finals. On Monday they will take on Romania at the Allianz in their first appearance at a major tournament since the country was invaded by Russia in February of 2022.
