The Paris Olympics are now just around the corner, with Friday's opening ceremony set to kickstart over two weeks of thrilling action. Athletes will get the chance to write their names into the history books, but it is not all about the medals in the French capital. Competitors need to earn a living, too, and there will be prize money on offer as well at this year's Games. Although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) do not directly pay participating athletes due to the history of the Olympics originally starting off as an amateur competition, athletics and boxing will hand over prize money to medalists for the first time ever.
