Ex-Saints HC Dennis Allen on Bears potentially signing Cameron Jordan

Cameron Jordan is still waiting for the right opportunity to present itself in free agency, and we may have already seen him sack a quarterback for the last time in aNew Orleans Saintsuniform. The franchise sacks leader and eight-time Pro Bowler has said he has a couple of different offers on the table, but he hasn't accepted any of them yet.

According to his former coach Dennis Allen, theChicago Bearsmay not be an option.ESPN's NFL Nation beat reporter Courtney Cronincaught up with Allen to get his take on a potential reunion with Jordan.

"Cam’s going to be a frickin' Hall of Fame player, is a Hall of Fame player," Allen said, correcting himself. "I don’t know that there’s been a ton of discussion about that. I think we feel pretty good about where we’re at and what we have and yet, you never know what opportunities might present themselves down the road."

Allen was hired as Chicago's defensive coordinator not long after the Saints fired him as head coach; Jordan's frustrations with an uncomfortable role in Allen's defenseduring a seven-game losing streak boiled over. But that's all in the past now. As Allen said, who knows how things could work out?

It does seem like the Bears aren't a fit, at least from a salary cap perspective. Just five teams are spending more on their edge rushers this year than Chicago ($53.2 million) between big deals with Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo. With Jordan hoping to land one last payday of his own, he may have better luck with other teams.
