Russo believes the NFL quarterback must take greater responsibility for closing out games, especially with his $60 million annual salary.
Speaking on First Take, Russo criticized Prescott's late-game decisions during Dallas' recent losses to Baltimore and Arizona.
"He's making $60 million a year," Russo said. "When you're making $60 million a year, I've got to have the quarterback occasionally sneak one out for us in a big spot."

Russo pointed to two opportunities against Arizona that Dallas failed to convert. The Cowboys had possession at the Cardinals' 20-yard line following an unsuccessful onside kick.
With 2:10 remaining and Arizona holding one timeout, Prescott's offense settled for a field goal. Dallas then went three-and-out on its first overtime possession.
Russo argued Prescott needed only a couple of plays to put kicker Brandon Aubrey in range for a potential game-winning attempt.
"Get two plays, get to the 40-yard line, and let Aubrey kick a 57-yard field goal," Russo said. "And he didn't do it."

Russo also revisited Dallas' earlier loss to Baltimore. He criticized Prescott for failing to finish a drive near the two-yard line before leaving time for the Ravens' comeback.
The analyst acknowledged the Cowboys' defensive problems but refused to let Prescott escape criticism.
"I understand the defense," Russo said. "… But the bottom line is, this is twice now for him."
Dallas has fallen to 3-5 after losing three of its last four games. The offense has produced points, but its inability to finish crucial possessions remains a concern.

Prescott's contract brings expectations beyond regular-season production. Dallas needs its highest-paid players to deliver when games reach decisive moments.
Russo's criticism reflects a growing question around the Cowboys: can Prescott lead this team through pressure situations?
