No. 12 Gonzaga beats Oregon State, advances to 29th straight WCC final

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Graham Ike had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 12 Gonzaga to a 65-56 victory over Oregon State on Monday night and put the Bulldogs in the West Coast Conference Tournament championship game for the 29th straight time.

Gonzaga (29-3) will play No. 21 Saint Mary's or Santa Clara in the title game. Those teams met later Monday night. It will be the Zags' last WCC championship before heading to the Pac-12 Conference next season.

Oregon State's seasons ends at 17-16.

Ike, the WCC player of the year, made 10 of 17 shots for his 14th double-double this season and 45th of his career. He was the only Gonzaga player to score in double figures.

Jorge Diaz Graham led the Beavers with 15 points and Noah Amenhauser scored 11.

SANTA CLARA 76, NO. 21 SAINT MARY'S 71

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sash Gavalyugov scored 23 points including a back-breaking 3-pointer to lead Santa Clara to a victory over Saint Mary's in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament to take a big step toward making the Big Dance.

The Broncos (26-7) will play No. 12 Gonzaga (29-3) in the championship game on Tuesday night. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

While the Bulldogs are safely in the tournament, Santa Clara was considered on the bubble. The Broncos entered this game No. 42 in the NCAA's NET rankings and No. 37 in Kenpom.

Saint Mary's (27-5) could take a hit in the tournament seeding, but the Gaels figure to get into the field of 68. They were No. 20 in the NET and No. 22 in KenPom.

This is the first time since 2021 that the WCC final hasn't been between Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.

Santa Clara coach Herb Sendek claimed his 600th career victory, a somewhat mild upset over the Gaels, who were favored by 5 1/2 points at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Elijah Mahi added 19 points for the Broncos and Allen Graves finished with 10.

Paulius Murauskas scored 26 points to lead Saint Mary's, Mikey Lewis had 23 and Andrew McKeever totaled 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Emotional Gary Woodland reveals PTSD struggles following brain surgery

PGA Tour veteran Gary Woodland revealed Monday that he has battled post-traumatic stress disorder related to the brain surgery he underwent 2 1/2 years ago.

The September 2023 operation addressed a lesion and halted his seizures. Woodland, the 2019 U.S. Open champion, returned to the tour the following January and has played regularly ever since, but not all has been well.

"I can't waste energy anymore hiding this, and I'm blessed with a lot of support out here on the Tour," Woodland, 41, said in an emotional interview with Golf Channel. "Everyone's just been amazing. Every week I come out and everyone's so excited and happy that I'm back. I hear that every week -- it's so nice to see you past this, it's so nice to see you 100% -- and I appreciate that love and support. But inside, I feel like I'm dying, and I feel like I'm living a lie."

Woodland illustrated his struggles by discussing an incident at an event in Napa, Calif., last fall.

Woodland was triggered by a tournament staffer walking near him on the golf course.

"I stepped aside, I pulled my caddie and said, 'This stuff is hitting me, man. You can't let anybody get behind me,'" Woodland said. "Next thing you know, I couldn't remember what I was doing. My eyesight started to get blurry. And a hole later, I just said (to my caddie) ... 'I can't handle it.' And I start bawling in the middle of the fairway. It was my turn to hit, and I couldn't hit."

His caddie said to Woodland, "Let's go in," but Woodland decided to keep playing because he was competing with two members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team for which he was about to serve as an assistant captain.

"I said, 'No, man, I'm here for these guys. I want to fight through this,'" Woodland said. "I went into every bathroom to cry the rest of the day. When I got done, I got in my car and got out of there.

"There are days when it's tough -- crying in the scoring trailer, running to my car just to hide it. I don't want to live that way anymore."

Woodland said of discussing his mental-health issues, "I hope somebody that's struggling sees me out here still fighting and battling and trying to live my dreams. I've talked to veterans, and one thing I've heard from multiple people is you can't do this on your own, no matter how strong you think you are. ...

"I want to help people, too. I realize now I've got to help myself first -- and hopefully this is the first step in doing that."

Woodland has four career wins on the PGA Tour, none since his U.S. Open victory 5 1/2 years ago. Last year he had one top-10 finish, a tie for second at the Texas Children's Houston Open, and he wound up 72nd in the FedEx Cup standings.

Sash Gavalyugov had 23 points and six assists and Santa Clara likely wrapped up its first NCAA Tournament bid in 30 years with a 76-71 victory over No. 21 Saint Mary's in the West Coast Conference semifinals on Monday night at Las Vegas.

Elijah Mahi added 19 points and seven rebounds and Allen Graves had 10 points and three steals for third-seeded Santa Clara (26-7), which is sitting on the NCAA tourney bubble.

The Broncos will face top-seeded Gonzaga for the league's automatic bid in the championship game on Tuesday.

Paulius Murauskas recorded 26 points and eight rebounds for the second-seeded Gaels (27-5), who are solidly part of the NCAA Tournament field despite the setback.

Mikey Lewis added 23 points and Andrew McKeever produced 11 points and 11 rebounds for Saint Mary's.

Santa Clara hasn't played in the NCAA Tournament since 1996, when it finished a run of three appearances in four seasons during the Steve Nash era.

Mahi knocked down a 3-pointer to give Santa Clara a 71-69 edge with 1:42 left. He added a layup with one minute remaining to give the Broncos a four-point lead.

Joshua Dent hit a jumper in the lane to bring Saint Mary's within 73-71 with 41.5 seconds to go.

The Gaels chose not to foul, and with the shot clock winding down, Gavalyugov buried a 3-pointer from well behind the arc to give the Broncos a five-point lead with 12.1 seconds to play.

The victory was the 600th in the career of Broncos coach Herb Sendek.

Santa Clara shot 48.4% from the field, including 11 of 25 (44%) from 3-point range. The Broncos shot 58.6% (17 of 29) in the second half.

The Gaels connected on 44.4% of their shots and were 6 of 20 (30%) from behind the arc.

Saint Mary's led by five in the second half before Santa Clara scored 13 of the next 18 points. Graves scored the final five to give the Broncos a 52-49 lead with 11:30 remaining.

The Gaels scored the next four points to inch back ahead before Santa Clara went on a 9-2 spurt. Thierry Darlan scored the last five to give the Broncos a 61-55 advantage with 7:23 left.

Graves' three-point play pushed Santa Clara's lead to 64-57 with 6:38 remaining. Murauskas then scored five points during a 7-0 spurt as the Gaels knotted the score with 4:33 left.

Murauskas scored 10 first-half points, and Saint Mary's led 35-32 at the break.

JetBlue flights to resume after request for ground stop, FAA says

JetBlue flights will resume on Tuesday after the Federal Aviation Administration said a nationwide ground stop that the airline had requested had been canceled, the Federal Aviation Administration said inan updated advisoryon Tuesday.

"A brief system outage has been resolved and we have resumed operations," the airline said in a statement.

An earlierFAA advisorysaid the airline had requested the stop. The FAA's cancelation advisory was published about 90 minutes after the initial advisory.

JetBlue planes could not take off while the stop was in place, but the flights in the air could continue.
