Fans can now get gluten-free cookies from the iconic brand[/caption]

Those customers who have gluten allergies or refrain from eating gluten for any reason will be able to enjoy the Original version of the chocolate chip cookie, per Food & Wine.

Chips Ahoy! explained in a press release that it went "where it's never gone before" with the flavor, officially known as Chips Ahoy! Gluten-Free Cookie.

To create the cookie without gluten, the brand supposedly spent a serious amount of time — several years — to ensure that it tasted almost identical to those with gluten.

A total of 40 recipes were created before landing on the perfected process, taking more than 3,000 hours.

Jainette Quinones, brand manager at Chips Ahoy! Innovation, emphasized that their team wanted to get it right, and she feels they created an "absolutely delicious cookie for anyone to enjoy."

"When we set out to create our first Chips Ahoy! Gluten-Free Cookie, we didn't want it to be a good gluten-free cookie; we wanted it to be a great cookie that's also gluten-free," Quinones said in a statement.

"I am proud to say that our innovation team has succeeded."

Chips Ahoy! insisted that it didn't want to "rush the process" and ultimately found "a superior product that would delight cookie fans and the gluten-free community alike."

"Because gluten-free doesn't have to mean flavor-free," the company added.

The Chips Ahoy! Gluten-Free cookie isn't a limited-time flavor either.

It's here to stay for good as an option always available to customers.

MOVE APPROVED

Some have seemingly already found the specially marked packaging at their local retailers and given the new cookies a try to see if they do match up to those with gluten.

Most of the response from fans has been positive thus far.

"Chips Ahoy took over 3,000 hours and 40 different recipes, but they have finally perfected a Chips Ahoy Gluten-free cookie that tastes just like the original," one person wrote in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

"I love this! Thank you for making it happen!" another exclaimed.

"Omg," a third fan remarked.

"Nice!" someone else exclaimed.

It's unclear when Chips Ahoy! will be officially releasing the Gluten-Free Cookie, but it's likely fans will see the product pop up at many retailers near them by the end of May.

CHANGING IT UP

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, Chips Ahoy! also changed the recipe of its Original flavor for the first time in 10 years in March.

The brand called it "MMMproved" with considerations of the right texture and amount of chocolate chips for customers.

There were over 60 recipe tests and 5,000 hours put into this project in comparison to the gluten-free cookie.

Chips Ahoy! also changed the packaging on the original cookie to reflect the updated recipe.
