'You're a grown man?' NBA fans ask Shaquille O'Neal after Inside the NBA star releases Shannon Sharpe diss track | 5I00T82 | 2024-05-11 02:08:01
NBA fans have been left divided by Shaquille O'Neal's decision to attempt to end his Shannon Sharpe beef with a diss track.
The battle between the two Hall of Famers arose following O'Neal's decision to publically criticize the selection of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic as the NBA MVP over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
On Wednesday, after his Inside The NBA colleague Charles Barkley announced Jokic's win on-air, the Nuggets star appeared virtually on the show to discuss his third such award.
O'Neal, however, opened up his conversation with Jokic by telling him he felt Gilgeous-Alexander should have won the award.
"I want to congratulate you, but I want you to hear it from me first," he said.
"I thought the SGA should've been the MVP, that's no disrespect to you, but congratulations."
Former NFL star Sharpe subsequently claimed on his Nightcap podcast that he felt O'Neal's comments stemmed from jealousy.
Sharpe also claimed that O'Neal's single MVP title meant that in his opinion he did not belong in the GOAT conversation.
What's more, Sharpe also commented that "if he had my work ethic, he had 40,000 points."
O'Neal wasted no time in firing back on Instagram, claiming he was simply "sticking up" for Gilgeous-Alexander in the caption of a screengrab of an article that had Sharpe ranked 51st in a list of the NFL's top 100 characters.
"Shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks.
"So here's some clickbait for you. If you ain't ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can't speak on me."

Beginning with a soundbite from the aforementioned Nightcap podcast, O'Neal went on to brutally fire back at Sharpe's comments.
"You think you could say something about the Diesel and he ain't gonna say something back. You've got to have G14 classification," he said.

While a fourth joked, "Shaq not gonna let Drake and Kendrick have all the fun."
It seems that this is the last O'Neal will say on the beef, including in the caption of his track, "Love y'all, now I'm done with this.
