'Broken-hearted' parents pay tribute to teen girl 'sadly missed' after horror Wicklow crash as funeral details released | KO47C80 | 2024-05-12 00:08:01
THE funeral details have emerged for the tragic teen killed in a horror Wicklow crash last weekend.
The tragic incident happened in Slaney Park, Baltinglass, in Co Wicklow at around 5am on Sunday morning.
The victim, named locally as Molly Dempsey, had been a passenger in the vehicle.
The driver of the car, a male also in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act.
He has since been released from custody. Gardai say investigations are ongoing and that a file will be prepared for the DPP.
No other serious injuries were reported from the incident.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them, and anyone that may have dashcam footage of the incident.
Following the tragedy, funeral arrangements for the 18-year-old have been shared to RIP.ie.
Molly's death notice reads: "Molly Dempsey, 5 Whitehall Park, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow – 5th May 2024 (suddenly, following an accident).
"Beloved sister of the late Roy and Killian. Sadly missed by her broken-hearted parents Nigel and Mary, brothers Joe, Charlie and Jake, sisters Laura, Yvonne and Ella, grandmothers May (Fox) and Dolly (Dempsey) uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and many friends.
"Reposing at her residence on Thursday from 12 noon concluding at 8pm.
"House private thereafter, please. Funeral arriving to St. Joseph's Church, Baltinglass, on Friday morning for 11am Requiem Mass after which she will be laid to rest in Baltinglass Cemetery."
Tributes have been paid to Molly, who was from Baltinglass, by pals and relatives — as locals comforted her parents Nigel and Mary.
One pal said: "Heartbroken for all the Dempsey family.
"Rest in peace Molly, you will always be remembered. Watch over all your family at this heartbreaking time."
'Tragic loss'
Another relation wrote: "Thinking of my niece and nephew on the tragic passing of their cousin and thinking of their aunt Mary Dempsey and Uncle Nigel Dempsey on the tragic loss of their daughter Molly.
"May she get a bed next to her two brothers. RIP Molly."
A third loved one added: "Heartfelt condolences to all of you on the devastating loss of a girl so young & beautiful. May her funny, happy memories be a source of comfort to you all. Rip."
While another shared: "Sincere condolences to Mary, Nigel, and family and to the extended Fox and Dempsey families on the sudden and sad loss of Molly. Rest in Peace young lady."
One friend added: "I was so saddened to hear of Molly's sudden tragic death, she was much too young. My deepest sympathy to Charlie on the loss of his baby sister. She will be sadly missed by her parents Nigel and Mary and her loving siblings and relatives and friends. RIP Molly."
