Met Eireann's Siobhan Ryan said: "It's a good news story, really out until the end of the weekend.

"High pressure dominating our weather, lots of dry conditions, light winds and temperatures improving day on day with more in the way of sunshine too."

But there will be a turn by next week.

Siobhan warned: "Later this weekend, there are indications that conditions will become more unsettled."

The forecaster said today will bring a "good deal of dry weather" with overall cloudy conditions and warm spells of hazy sunshine.

She said: "More in the way of sunshine getting through more readily both for Friday, and indeed for Saturday temperatures widely climbing into the low 20s."

It will be a "brighter day" for the west and northwest.

Siobhan said: "Best values for the midlands, east, the north midlands too.

"A lot of dry weather. It will be practically dry country wide, with mix a cloud and mild or warm spells of late spring sunshine with the brighter skies likely for the midlands, east and southeast."

Sea fog may develop in coastal appears and the east coast.

Highest temperatures will range between 16C to 20C.

Tonight cloud will clear, leaving some isolated mist and fog patches.

Saturday will bring "further improvement" with temperatures climbing between 18C to 22C.

Mist and fog will clear this morning, bringing a dry and mostly sunny day.

Met Eireann said it will be a "little cooler" near the south and southeast coasts due to onshore breezes.

Temperatures will begin to fall between 15C and 19C.

Saturday night will be cloudier with showers in the western areas spreading eastwards.

Sunday we will see a turn with a mix of cloud, sun and showers.

There will be some sunny spells but longer spells of rain will develop – some "heavy with the chance of isolated thunderstorms".

Monday will see further outbreaks of rain, some heavy with a chance of thunderstorms.

Highest temperatures will be 13C to 17C.

Next week, low pressure looks set to dominate bringing showers and thundery falls possible.
